December 2012 | Staff updates


More employees are joining, moving around, and advancing

Adam Sparks (United States of America), Scientist at Crop and Environmental Sciences Division (CESD) on December 1. Reporting directly to David Johnson, he develops and leads a research program on management approaches that will result in practical tools and strategies to address chronic and emerging rice diseases in the context of changing production scenarios and climate change. His office is located at DL Umali Building, x2753. Iris Bugayong assists him at x2674.

Primo Melchor Sarzon, Jr. (Philippines), Programmer at Crop and Environmental Sciences Division (CESD) on December 3. He design, develop, debug, document, upgrade, and maintain software applications and decision tools associated with the dissemination of improved management of soils, nutrients, and crops for rice-based systems. His office is located at KJ Lampe Building, x2645.

Gilda Jonson (Philippines), Senior Associate Scientist at Plant Breeding, Genetics and Biotechnology (PBGB) on December 3. She conducts research on rice virus diseases to understand the nature of casual agents, their relation to vectors/hosts, variability, and pathogenicity. Results obtained are needed in studying host resistance genetic variability and epidemiology of viruses. Her office is located at NC Brady Building, x2516.

Mark Jeffrey Morete (Philippines), Researcher at Crop and Environmental Sciences Division (CESD) on December 3. He assists the Micronutrient Plant Physiologist in conducting field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments. His office is located at Kenzo Hemmi Building, x2649.

Jose Luis (Philippines), Assistant Manager II at Safety and Security Services (SSS) on December 13. He is responsible for the Occupational Safety and Environmental Management System of the Institute. His office is located at Bradfield Hall, x2796.

Darwin Talay (Philippines), Programmer at Plant Breeding, Genetics, Biotechnology (PBGB) on December 17. He contributes to the development of the R analytical pipeline, and PB tools. He also works on the genetic analysis modules including user-specification, user-interface design, function development, technical documentations and feedback. His office is located at NC Brady Building, x2437.
