Reporting directly to Bruce Tolentino, he provides strategic advice and guidance to the Board and Senior Management on governance and operations; provides legal opinions on proposed Institute policies, current and proposed legislations, and other pertinent legal issues that may affect Institute operations. He also oversees the implementation of agreements, with particular emphasis on ensuring the parties’ compliance with contractual restrictions and obligations; and, identifies legal risks and benefits, and assists the IRRI management in managing these risks. Maria Eda Apple Suplido (Philippines), Assistant Scientist at Crop and Environmental Sciences Division (CESD) on August 1. She leads in the conceptualization, development, and upgrading of farmer-oriented web- and mobile phone- based decision tools. She also conducts field evaluation trails training, develop promotional materials, and document activities related to improved nutrient and crop management rice-based systems.
