Reporting directly to Michael Thomson, she manages the Genotyping Service Laboratory to provide rapid, high quality, and cost-effective molecular marker services to the IRRI community and GRiSP partners. Jeanette Balindong (Philippines), Assistant Scientist at Plant Breeding, Genetics and Biotechnology (PBGB) on March 1. She manages rice tissue and transformation activities and facilities, LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), and the GTL chemical supplies and consumables. Her office is located at NC Brady Building, x2430.
James Michael Villegas (Philippines), Researcher at Crop and Environmental Sciences Division (CESD) on March 1. He is responsible for the implementation, oversight and support of the project entitled Developing ecological engineering approaches to restore and conserve ecosystem services for pest management for sustainable rice production in the Philippines. Maria Consuelo Parducho (Philippines), Officer at Plant Breeding, Genetics, and Biotechnology (PBGB) on March 1. Argem Gerald Flores (Philippines), Systems Analyst/Programmer at Plant Breeding, Genetics, and Biotechnology (PBGB) on March 1. He provides system analysis, design and coding support for implementation of specific software components for breeding data capture and curation tools. Allan Malabanan (Philippines), Research Technician II at Crop and Environmental Sciences Division (CESD) on March 1. He operates and maintains field and laboratory equipment in addition to providing support to scientists and researchers by ensuring all materials needed for experiments are ready. Matty Demont (Belgium), Senior Scientist at Social Sciences Division (SSD) on March 9. Reporting directly to Sam Mohanty, he lead efforts on market research and value chain analysis of the rice sector. His office is located at Drilon Building, x2875. Lydia Damian assists him at x2266.
John Paulo Valmon (Philippines), Assistant at Events, Visitors, and Exhibits Office (EVEO) on March 11. He provides audio-visual technical support at all IRRI’s events. His office is located at Chandler Hall, x2344.
Eric John Cruz (Philippines), Researcher at Grain Quality and Nutrition Center (GQNC) on March 11. He develops, modifies, and validates methods to suit complex sample matrices and perform plant and soil water analysis. He also assists in maintaining the ISO 17025 accreditation of the Analytical Services Laboratory (ASL). His office is located at Kenzo Hemmi Building, x2594.
Carlos Casal, Jr. (Philippines), Associate Scientist at Plant Breeding, Genetics, and Biotechnology (PBGB) on March 11. He leads research activities on field and greenhouse evaluation and generation advancement of pre-breeding materials for tolerance of anaerobic germination and related traits such as weed competitiveness and seedling vigor. Brian Montes (Philippines), Technician I - Research at Plant Breeding, Genetics, and Biotechnology (PBGB) on March 21. He conducts collaborative project with CNARES in Korea on “Screening and genetic analysis of the temperate colored rice varieties developed by CNARES under tropical condition." He is also assisting a researcher and a visiting scientist who is managing the developed varieties, breeding populations, conducting of artificial crossing, and phenotyping in the field and greenhouse. His office is located at NC Brady Building.
